Zumba steps & choreography
A few videos to help you practise some of the steps we use in class. If none of it makes sense, come to a class and give it a go!
Salsa, Zumba style
This video is good at showing the basic salsa side-to-side step, as we use it in Zumba.
Samba, Zumba style
Samba has lots of variations. The Zumba samba shown here is a basic (I said basic, not easy!) version of street or carnival samba, rather than ballroom samba. I'm not going to lie, it's not easy, but in class we mainly use the samba side lunge, which is shown here too.
Meghan Trainor – No Excuses
Here's the arm pattern to practise: cross, down, out, down, cross, down, up.
It's hard to see their feet, which is where it all starts! We begin by turning our hips slightly to the side and double-tapping our feet. 4 × opposite arm out, 4 × arm swing across, then repeat. Next it's tap pulse with the opposite arm pushing near the head. Mine is slightly less wiggly than the video, as I don't want my head to fall off! When we walk back I do shoulder wiggles instead of finger wiggles, but you're welcome to do either.
In Gold, we don't open the legs out when both arms swing out, but you're welcome to if you like.
